Wine & Cigar Night

My father and his best friend started golfing ten, or so, years ago. When they realized that they sucked at golf and really just preferred to hang around drinking wine and smoking cigars, boom! Wine & Cigar Night was born, and eventually, it became a weekly event. I would stop by to visit my dad and, if it happened to be a Wednesday night, I'd sit around the campfire, or television, with him and Lenny "solving the world's problems."

In the infancy of my W&CN going, I didn't even drink wine, or smoke cigars, for that matter. But, with the help of a little peer pressure, I was soon hooked on that heavenly nectar and became a regular in the small crowd. (Since then, I've even tried a few cigars, but they're not really my thing.)

Over time, W&CN became more than just a couple of idiots drinking on a week night, and became more of a symposium. The crowds have grown and if the weather is nice, somewhere between 5 and 25 people will attend. It is a designated place and time all of us can relax and openly say whatever is on our minds, because as it has been established, "what happens at Wine & Cigar Night, stays at Wine & Cigar Night." Everyone has a hobby - we drink cheap wine.

There are a few W&CN trends that happened so often we started to refer to them as rules.
  1. Wine is always cost under $20, unless some one gets laid. Then by all means, splurge on a $22 bottle.
  2. W&CN is held every Wednesday at my father's house, unless it is hunting season, snowmobile season, or my dad or Len can't make it, then cancellations and rescheduling are required.
  3. What happens at W&CN, stays at W&CN. Meaning, whatever embarrassing shit is said or done, we won't bring it up again... Until next Wednesday.
  4. Raw honesty isn't required, but it will happen. You can literally say anything. If you can't handle it, don't come back.
